Mr. Timothy Downing, of Tomoana, met with a painful accident last evening. When visiting some friends he was walking under some trees to place his bicycle in a place of safety, when he came in contact with a meat hook suspended from a branch of a tree. The hook pierced the left eyelid, entering just above the pupil. Dr. Wilson attended the sufferer, out it is not yet known whether the accident will result in the total loss of the sight of the injured eye. Mr. H. K. Thomson's great Hastings summer clearing sale is still progressing and the bargains enticing a host of eager customers.
