CHRISTCHURCH MYSTERY.
NO FRESH DEVELOPMENTS.
DREAMS OF NEUROTICS. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. J Christchurch, Feb. 12. There have been no fresh developments in connection with the Cashel Street poisoning case. The police are continuing their inquiries to endeavour to discover if the deceased purchased prussic acid recently. No trace of the woman’s hat has yet been found. This morning a wild rumour to the effect that two men had been arrested by the police was circulated about the city, but it was absolutely unfounded. The police are being bombarded with a fusilade of theories by amateur and private detectives. The latter are stated to be already hampering the police detective force in its investigations by unwanted and needless interference. The police have received the usual crop of letters from neurotic persons who say they dreamt all about the occurrence and give particulars and details which exist only in their own imaginative brains.
It is almost certain that the matter, so far as the inquest is concerned, will be concluded on Friday, when Sadler will give evidence and the police will probably adduce a few additional facts.
