TARANAKI.
REPORTED MASSACRE OF FIFTY PEOPLE at WAIKMU Thursday, Dec. 29. Four natives from Mokau bring intelligence that the telegraphist and fortynine persons have been murdered in the Waikato. Great consternation here at the report. Christmas dull. A man named Da niel Bishop was killed at the Waitara races. Another man named Samson Dingle cut his arm, and nearly bled to death. He was for seventeen hours without assistance, and was found insensible in a pool of blood. Other accidents occurred on Boxing Day. A local steam company has been started for the Waitara trade.
