Tub brigantine Mary Ann, Hamilton, master, left Newcastle on the 2<3th January, and experienced fine weather across, sighting Cape Egmont on thei •Ith February ; went through Cook's Straits, and j lay becalmed off Cape Palliser until the night of the sth. A strong southerly wind then sprung up, which enabled her to make good head way. Was off Bare Island on the morning of the 7th inst.; rounded Gape Kidnappers at 8 a.m. on Monday last, arriving in the roadstead at noon the same day—thus making a fair passage of 13 days. The Mary Ann brings 200 tons coal, consigned to Mr LeQuesne. The s.s. Ahuriri, Captain J. Flowerday, left Port Chalmers at 2 p.m. on the 4th inst., arriving at Lyttelton on tne sth inst. at 10 a.m. Left Lyttelton the same day at 3.45 p.m., in company with the s.s. John Penn, arriving at Wellington at 11 a.m. on the 6th. Experienced strong N.W. breezes from Port Chalmers. Left Wellington at 4 p.m. on the Bth, and arrived here at 4 p.m. on the 9th. Experienced line weather with EN.E. winds. The Ahuriri will steam northwards this evening at 5 o'clock. The s.s. Stav Qf the South. Captain Bendall, from Auckland, arrived in port early this morning. The schooner Saucy Lass, D. H. M'Kenzie, master, left Auckland for Napier on Thursday last, 4th February. The schooner Little Fred will, we learn, leave for Auckland to-morrow. The schooners Jubilee, Kauri, and Success, hence with wool, have all arrived at Wellington—the former on the sth inst., and the two latter on the 7th. The Success was advertised to leave for Napier and Auckland on Tuesday last. We learn that the brigantine Jessie, hence, arrived at Newcastle on the 26th January. Either the Jessie, or some other vessel, may shortly be expected to arrive here from Newcastle, with a cargo of coal for Mr J. 11. Vautier. Amongst the projected departures in the New Zealand Advertiser, of the Bth Feb., we observe the s.s. Wellington for Napier and Auckland—to leave Wellington to-morrow (Friday.) The Wellington left Port Chalmers at 1.40 pan. on Tuesday last, and arrived at Lyttelton at 9.20 a.m. on Wednesday (yesterday.) The ship Mataoka, from London, arrived at Lyttelton early last Monday morning. H.M.S.R. Blanohe, from Wanganui, arrived at Wellington at 7.50 a.m. on Sunday last. The s.s. Alhambra arrived at llokitika at 11 p.m. on Tuesday last, from Melbourne. The ship Chile, with a cargo of wool, &c., left Port Chaluiera for London, at 2 p,m, on Tuesday las,t»

The New Zealand Advertiser, Btli Feb., says : We learn from Mr John Martin that he has re* Geived intelligence from Otago to the effect that the Floatiug Dock recently constructed there is incapable" of taking in the s.s. Phoebe,, about to undergo extensive repairs, the experiment having failed after the vessel had advanced'some distance into the Dock. This will necessitate the despatch of the Thoebe to Sydney for repairs. The favorite ship Electra (says the N.Z. Advertiser, Feb. 8) has now completed her loading, and will take her- departure in a day or two. She has on board" 3,166 bales wool, and a quantity of other produce, the value being, estimated at about £60,000, Mrs. Hastings, the widow of Lieutenant [Tastings, whose fall at Te Ngutu, o te Manu all so much deplored, aud whose gallantry all have admired, and her little boy. are passengers by this opportunity.
