[own co-respondent.] A farewell social and presentation to Mr and Mrs J. Cameron took place in the Rechabite Hall on Friday, the 23rd instant, when there was a representative attendance from all parts of the district. Mr R. H. Tod occupied the chair. In bidding farewell to the guests of the evening, Mr Tod briefly referred to their many good qualities. Mr Cameron had, he said, been a splendid stationmaster—a good officer to the department and strict and fair to"the public. He had kept them in their proper places, and yet he did not grudge time or work outside his regulations to facilitate the business of the settlers. lie had much pleasure in presenting Mr Cameron with a gold watch on behalf of the residents, Mr Tod said that he thought that perhaps the reason why Mr Cameron was such a splendid stationmaster was because lie liad a good wife, and he also had much pleasure in presenting Mrs Cameron with a dress ring on behalf of her many friends. Songs were contributed by Miss Bradbury and Messrs Mair, Ingleton, and Eobottom, and there was dancing.
