A Press Association message states that the Addington market was of a holiday character, both the entries and the attendance being small. The entries comprised 4312 sheep, 252 cattle, and 153 pigs. Of fat cattle, 88 head were yarded. The demand was very languid, and the sale very irregular, at an average range of prices considerably lower than has been recently current, a large proportion being withdrawn. Prime beef sold at the rate of 22s 6d, and cows and secondary 19s to 20s per 1001b. Per head steers made £7 to £8 17s 6d. heifers £5 12s 6d to £7 12s 6d, cows £5 to £6 17s 6d. The entry of fat calves was of good quality, and prices ranged from 14s to 40s. Of store cattle, the entry

was small, and there was no change in values. Sales were made at the following prices:—Yearlings 265, 15 to 18-months 39s 6d to 635, two-year heifers £4 3s 6d, three-year steers passed at £6 Bs, dry cows 30s to £4. There was a small entry of dairy cows, and business was unimportant. Business in fat sheep was extremely dull, and the small entry was not fully cleared at the lower prices which were current. Wethers were easier, while ordinary ewes suffered a further decline of Is to 2s. Prime wethers sold at 11s to 22s 6d, others from 18s, prime ewes 18s to 19s lid, and aged from 16s. The yarding of fat sheep was small, and only good quality was in demand. The supply of fat lambs was small, hut included a good proportion of prime quality. Prices were very irregular, and on the average Is 6d lower from last week. The best pens were sold at 17s to 20s, others 13s 6d to 16s 6d. A fair entry of store sheep came forward. The sale was rather irregular, but on the whole previous values were maintained. The principal sales were of two-tooth wtehers, a small line at 19s 6d, 94 at 18s sd, 82 at 17s 9d, 72 at 17s 4d, and 267 at 16s 9d, two and four-tooth wethers 295 at 17s Bd, hallbred and crossbred* ewes at 19s to 19s 9d, 231 ewes with lambs at 18s 7d, all counted, a small line of lambs at 12s. A small entry of pigs averaged about previous rates—4d to 4Jd for baconers, and 4Jd to per lb for porkers.
