A CANADIAN VIEW. (Received September 22, 1.11 a.m.) LONDON, September 21. Senator G. E. Dumunond, presiding over the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association Convention at Montreal, 1
representing 1,500 firms, stated that manufacturers unreservedly declared themselves favourable to a tariff arrangement which, while encouraging the development of Canadian industries, would give a substantial preference to the Motherland and other parts of the Empire with which reciprocal preference could bo arranged. Nothing ought now to prevent the Motherland and the Colonies from appointing qualified representatives to ' endeavour to evolve a policy of preference binding the Motherland and colonies in a permanent alliance.
