[OWN OOBRBBPONDINT.] At the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, before Messrs S. Johnson and J. O’Connor, J.P.’s, Christopher Rynon, a man of colour, was charged with not having sufficient lawful means of support. It appears that he has been hovering about the town, mostly in the eyenings and particularly on Saturday nights. Ho appeared from the records of the court to have passed nearly the whole of his time for the two last years in gaol, and he was remitted there for the next three months. The coroner received intimation on Monday morning that a man named Alfred John Suddon was killed at Gamman’s mill, Matamau, on Saturday afternoon, by a log crushing him. Tho coroner proceeded to Dannevirke, where an inquest is being held. Mrs W. Rathbone, of Abbotsford, ha s extended an invitation to the superintendent, teachers, and scholars of St. Peter’s Sunday School, for a garden party, to be held in the extensive and beautiful gardens attached to Abbotsford, on Thursday (St. Patrick’s Day). Out-of-door recreations and a picnic aro included iu the, arrangements, ami should the weather be fine tho guests will have a very pleasant afternoon.
