OBITUARY.

I LONDON, January 3. The death is announced of Princess Mathilda Bonaparte. The deceased was the daughter of Jerome Bonaparte, King of Westphalia and younger brother of Napoleon I. She was born fat 1820, and married Prince Demidoif fat 1841.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. The death is announced of Mr C. D. Whitcombe, aged 68, formerly CommisStone* 'of Crown Lands and secretary to Ifer Provincial Council of Taranaki, also secretary to Sir George Grey in Auckland during the eighties and Foreign Adviser to the Tongan Government. He was brother to Sir George Whitcombe, of Whitcombe and Tombs, Limited, end Mr F. S- Whitcombe, Bailway Traffic Manager at Wanganui.
