[MESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, Saturday, A doubt os to whether Sir Maurioa O’Borke would contest the Mannkau seat is set at rest by his announcement that ho will be a candidate. Ho will be opposed by Mr Kirkbride, a farmer. Mr Massey’s opponent for the linelectorate will, it is understood, Mr Harris, brother o£ Major Harris, M.L.C. . Mr French, a temperance worker, will probably be a candidate for the city, MrChoal, surveyor, will oppose Mr Bollard for Kden. Thames, Saturday. Mr Michael O’Keefe, or-proiident of the Thames Miners’ Union, has expressed bis intention of contesting the Thames seat against the Minister of Mines if no other candidate representing the Miners’ Union comes forward. Mr O’Keefe made himself a conspicuous figure in the reoent mining dispute. After the award of the Arbitration Court ho asked Mr M'Gowan to remove Mr Justice Cooper from bis position as president of the Court.
