WAIPAWA.
[from our own correspondent.] June 29, 1901, Several properties have changed hands lately in Waipawa, including two cottages near the Town Board oilices, to Mr A. K. Jull, and two sections, including Mr M. C. Symouds’ residence, belonging to Kohjohn’a estate, have been purchased by Mr Bibby. The half-yearly meeting of the loyal Abbotsford Lodge, 1.0. U.P., M.P., was hold on Thursday night. The following oliicars were elected and installed by Bro. W. A, Chambers, i).P.G.M.:-Bro. A. K King, G.M.; Bro. A. E. Collett, MG.; Bro. J. W, Follow, V.G. In the course i,t an interesting address Bro. Chambers spoke highly of the working of the Abbotsford Lodge, and suggested that the three lodges in the locality, Abbotsford, Tavistock, and Kuahina should join a lodge of P.G., so that degrees should bo given in a uniform and impressive manner. A committee was appointed to consider and report on tbo best way of appropriating the surplus fuuds, now over -£2OOO, consisting of Bro. M. Collort, P.P.G.M., Bro. A, K Jull, P.P.G.M , and Bros, M, Sobloy and It. Habon, P.G/o The social bold on Friday evening, inaugurated by some lady members of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, with the object of devoting tbs proceeds towards Church funds, was very successful. The attendance was good. The Kov. W. S. Bowie presided. The vocalists were Mrs Bennett, the Misses E, W. Badly, Eathbme, and Clough. The Misses W. .T, Fellow and Noakes gave violin selections, and Mr Bowie gave two readings from Jerome K. Jerome. “ Comic Cats " and “ A Tale of a Tub ” formed the motif of a series of lantern slides, and the accompanying stories were told humorously. Light refreshments were provided, and some parlor games brought the entertainment to a close. A vote of thanks w.is tendered to nil who had assisted in the programme and to those who had in other directions contributed.
