VISIT TO FIJI.

AN ISLAND FEDERATION. Beceived June 11,1 a.m. Sydney, Thursday. Arrived — Manapouri, from the Islands. Fiji files contain an account of Mr Seddon's visit. Owing to the heavy weather the Tutanekai put into Tonga. It was decided to pay a flying visit to Fiji. They arrived at Suva on May 28th, and were banquetted by leading citizens. Replying to complimentary speeches, including reference in favor of the federation of Fiji and New Zealand, Mr Seddon said: What was there to prevent the federation of the Islands ? New Zealand had taken a great interest in the Cook Group, and saved it falling into the hands of a foreign nation, and was also stopping other islands going in the same direotion. He urged the necessity for regular steam services and cheaper fares between New Zealand and the Islands. The Tutanekai Bailed for Earatonga next day. Mr Seddon is much benefitted by his trip.
