THE A.M.P.
Sik,— ln your issue of 11th inst. one of your cables from Sydney states :— " It is understood that after the meeting of the House Sir J. Abbott will resign the Speakership, chiefly owing to ill-health." This is, I presume, the same gentleman who occupies the position of chairman of the A.M. P. Society, whioh position is of a vast deal more importance to many families in New Zealand than any Speakership in New South Wales. If his health be unfit for the Speakership why should he send round proxies, with stamped envelopes addressed to himself, to act for policy-holders in a matter of such vital importance as life assurance ? — I am, &c, , PoLIO7-HGLDER. Napier, June 13, 1900. '
