J The Minister of Lands, who is staying t at Hanmer Plains, was entertained at a t banquet at Jollies Pass Hotel on Friday s night by the settlers of Ainuri. There l was a very large gathering. E Mr M'Kenzie, in replying to the toast j of his health, avoided reference to t political affairs, and confined himself to j thanking the settlers for their hospitality, _ and remarking on the probable develop- , ment of Hanmer as a health resort. , Several of the largest landholders in r the district complimented the Ministev , on the work done by his Pemrtinent "in" , the suppression pf the rabbit nuisance, and stated that all danger to the district ! from rabbits was now past.
