[I'EOH OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] January 20, 1899. Gray, the Sydney crack who scored firsts at Makotuku, has threatened to sue for the recovery of his prize money if the same be not paid over to him at once. Maloney, the winner of the handicap, is of the same turn of mind. The club will not hurry, though, until convinced of the correctness of the claims. Henry James, recently bound over to keep the peace, is being charged at the Police Court on Monday morning with assaulting his wife since the sureties of the peaco were applied. Volley firing will be commenced by the local volunteers on Tuesday morning. While class firing has boon on the majority of thuso in the company have done well.
