Their names were ; taken by the Customs officer. Sixfcy at once to a draining work in the Waikato, to qualify for the -three months' residence required before they can obtain licenses to dig gum. The others are expected to ' ■ be similarly provided for. A great crowd witnessed the arrival of the steamer, but the Austrians did not go ashore till midnight, when everything was quiet. They proceeded to the various , boarding-houses. Theße are believed to be the last Austrians who left Dalmatia before the authorities were notified of the restrictive legislation. ; Latbb. : At an open-air meeting, lit W. Crowther, M.H.R., presiding, a resolution was .carried to the effect that the Government be thanked fir their services in the matter of th« prevention of the Austrian influx, and they be asked to further use their influence to ieep Austrians out of New Zefiaand.
