SENIOR CUP MATCH.
The first round for the senior cup was brought to a close on Saturday afternoon, when the Scinde finished their match with the United A team, winning by 82 runs to spare. Wilson and Dixon, the not outs of the previous Saturday, continued batting very steadily, and rues came slowly till "White got one past Dixon, Sainsbury joined Wilson, and a good stand was made, Wilson playing very patiently and waiting for the. loose ones, llawko was put on in place of Gardiner, and in his first over Wilson gave a very hard chance at the wickets, but it was rather low down for the wicket-keeper. The chance didn't make much difference to the total though, as he was caught by Q. White off Hawke's next over, having made 49 by very steady cricket. The other batsmen didn't stay very long. Sainsbury played a not - out innings, showing good defence. It is a pity this match could not have been played out during the week, as it only took about an hour to finish, and kept the rest of the competing teams idle. One very interesting feature of the win on Saturday was that the Soinde have beaten the team that had not so far been defeated this season, securing their first win. The contest now stands : United A and B, two wins each; Scinde and County, one win eaoh. At to-night's meeting of the association the second draw will take place, and it will also be decided, amongst other very important business, whether two senior cup matches shall be played on the Eeoreation Gronnd. Appended are the scores of Saturday's match : — Marshall, b White 2 Hiillainore, b White 8 Wood, c S. White, b G. White 0 Mucussey, b Gardiner 1G Wilson, c «. White, 1) Hawke (!)
