pHY TELEGRAPH.] Christciiubch, Friday. The fourth of the present series of local wool sales was held to-day. There was ft large attendance of local and foreign buyers, and the sale was the best for many years. Better classes of merinos and finer half-brcds met with exceedingly keen competition, and the price for these advanced fully Id from the last sale, 9.1 d being reached for the Culverden clip, which has topped tho market for some years. The best crossbreds also advanced, and oven the lower classes of wools met a better sale owing no doubt to the shortage now apparent. The lotal mills bought some of the best merinos. Out of a catalogue of 6199 bales, 5587 wore sold. The offerings this season have been about 7000 bales fewer than at tin) samo (Into lnst year.
