DASTARDLY OUTRAGE.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE OF A MASTERTON GIRL. [et TELEGRAPH.] Masterton, Wednesday. The Masterton police haye receiyec} information of an outrage of a particularly had character committed at Opaki last night on a girl of 17, and torday arrested a young man named Robert Douglas, aged 19. The girl states that Douglas accosted her while she was riding, and on stopping she was dragged off her horse by the hair. She declares she fought furiously till her strength failed, but that tho fellow effected his purpose, aud she fainted. Ou recovering she found herself covered with fern. The girl was examined by Dr. Hosking, and ample evidence was found to corroborate her story that someone had maltreated her. The clothing she had worn was also torn to pieces.
