A lengthy discussion took place at the Makotuku school committee meeting last evening on the question of giving prizes. For the last two years these have been awarded on an attendance basis, and the benefits of such a system have been considerable. This year, though, there is a feeling that those pupils who pass their examinations should receive prizes. Mr Brabazon said such it change would be a retrograde step, and proposed to meet the difficulty by giving four results prizes for eaoh of the following standards: — 1., 11., 111., and IV, ; two each for the fifth and sixth, and six for the infant 3. This was agreed to, and it was decided to distribute the prizes on the 21st, when parents are invited to be present. AU girls who received full marks for sowing will receive a prize, and all pupila maK' n K 419 attendances seoure first-class attenu anos prizes. Second-class awards will be ma^e to all who put in <W0 attendances and tipwards. It was decided to co-operate with the Norsewood school in the proposal to organise an oiiting by train to Napier for Bush schools. GOOD BLOOD 1,..
