a OBITUARY.
SIR WILLIAM JENNER. Bccoivcd December 11, 1 a.m. London, December 13. Tku duath is announced of Sir William Jenner, nged 83. Tho Quocn deplores the loss of a true and devoted friend. Deceased was a Commander of the Order of Leopold of Belgium, and lion, member of the Academy of Medicine, Belgium, born at Chatham, and educated at University College, London. He held various important appointments at hospitals. On the death of the lamented Dr, Baly in 18G1 Dr. Jenner was appointed to succeed him as Physioian Extraordinary to the Queen. He has written several series of papers on fever, the acute specific diseases, diphtheria, diseases of children, diseases or tho heart, lungs, skin, &c. Deceased was well known, not only to tho profession but to tho public at large, as having been the first to establish beyond dispute the difference in kind between typhus and typhoid fevers. In 1894 he was awarded the Moxon Medal of the Eoyal College of Physicians, which is presented triennially to persons who have rendered distinguished sorvices in the field of clinical medicine.
