NAPIER MAGISTEATE'S COURT.

Monday, December 12. [Before Jlr Turnbull, S.M.] Thomas Wilson was charged at the Magistrate's Court with having on the Bth instant stolen a number of sheathing piles valued at ,£5, the property of John Griffin. Mr Cresswell appeared for the accused, who was remanded until Monday next. Frederick Maboney, represented by Mr Lnsk, charged with having refused to remove his express when on the breakwater wharf to a place directed by Constable Harvey, was fined 10s, with 13s costs. For allowing a horse to stray on the railway line F. Hill was fined 5s with 9s costs. A prohibition order was granted against W. Morrell on the application of the Eev. Mr Miller. It was opposed by Mr Cresswell on behalf of tho defendant. Jane Morton was ordered to find a surety of w620 for her good behavior for twelve months, with 30a costs, for having used threatening language towards Magdalene Kirkpatrick at the Spit. Mr Lusk appeared for the complainant. ' An order -was made against Edward Bains for the payment of 5a a week towards the support of an illegitimate child by Hannah Franklin, with 27s costs, and to find two sureties in j£sO each for compliance with the order. Mr Stock appeared for the complainant and Mr Cresswell for defendant. A number of cases brought by the Truant Officer were heard, the following eaoh being fined 2s with 7s costs for breaches of the School Attendance Act : — William White, Samuel Haynes, David Hastie, George William Presling, Henry Brown, Minnie Sant, and Charles Henry Parker.
