AUCKLAND STEEPLECHASE MEETING.

(BY TELEGRAPH.) Auckland, Saturday. The first day of tbe North New Zealand Grand National meeting was held at Ellerslle racecourse to-day. The weather was unfavorable, and the attendance about 3000. Tbe snm passed through the totallsator was £3598. Tho following are tbe results :—

Ditto and Rhino were quickest away, the latter being In the vfm. They raced almost on terms round the back closely followed by Perform. The latter was with the leaders at the post and rails on tha hill, and was never after headed. Won by a conple of lengths from Bbino, Ditto half a length away third. Time, smln 35at>o.
