Foxes have become a great pest In Port Fairy dlsttlot. They are so cunning that It was impossible to destry.them until the method was adopted of shooting birds, and then without touoblng them with tho hands to stnff strychnine in the throats, and leaving them on the trail of dead sheep. Large numbers of foxes have since been fonnd dead. .Many of the cattle are starving in Gippsland, in consequence of the continned enowlalls, The weather Is Intensely cold.
