Sydney, Friday. The smoke ia again increasing at the mine. The pumping of gas baa been discontinued. Owing to insufficient heat ia the furnaces id was found that only eight per cent was forced, the teat being smoke and air, oi whloh already suffiolenb la below ground. Gas will now be manufactured al another neat of smelters, where greater power is available. The directors are Inundated with offers to extinguish the fire for a consideration. Many of the applicants have evidently not the remotest idea of the value of the workings. The directors do not treat the offera seriously. As a matter of facb, many old minera think that despite nil expedients, the fire will nob be completely subdued for many weeks to come. The oable repairing steamer 3herard Osborne left Singapore on Wednesday for New Zealand via Sydney.
