WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

MESSRS WILLIAMS AND KETTLE, LIMITED'S, REPORT. We held our periodical ealo of wool, skins, hides, and tallow to-day, when wo offered li bales and 23 bags wool, J523 skins, 209 hides, and 10 casks and 21 packages tallowi A fall muster of buyers faced the auctioneer, and Bhowed considerable animntion in their bidding. The tone of the market was firm, with an upward tendency for wool, Bkinß, and hides, and easier for tallow, based throughout no doubt on London advices. We cleared our catalogue at the following satisfactory prices :— I Wool.— Crossbred stragglers' fleece 6Jd to Cd, merino inferior in bags Id, crossbred dead from 13d for inferior to PJd for superior clean and bright; orutchingß, low grade 2Jd to 23d, medium from 3d to SW, good from 33d to 4jd, superiors being long, bright, and light up toijd. Skins.— ln this department the catalogue was attractive, the higher priced skins being well saved, with good length of wool. Cross- ] bred station kinds from 3Ja to JJd for medium length wool up to from Hd to 5Jd, butchers' reoently killed from 5d to 5Jd, hoggets from Hi to Sid, merino up to 4}d. Hides,— The large lots were first-class, and at the weights unsurpassed- in the colony. Prime heavy ox 4}d, prime medium weight . isl, light from 3d to 3}d ; cow, heavy 3|jd, calves Sgd, medium 2|d co 3gd ; bulls from id toljd. Tallow.— Chiefly station saved and medium quality ; in casks from £15 to £17, in packages l|d, rough inferior Id. We hold our next salo on tiio S:li August. At our periodical sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, and tallow, &c, today there was a full attendance of the local buyers, and bidding for all lots were brisk, while prices remain firm with an upward tendency. Wo submitted a large catalogue and with the ex* ception of a few lines everything was sold. Wool.— Stragglers' fleeco wool brought up to s]d, dead wool 53d, and first-class crutchings 4d per lb. Sheepskins.— Crossbred lino and half-bred realised up to sja, ordinary crossbred aid, hoggets sd, and merino 3Jd per lb. Hides.— A very good selection waß offered, well saved Btation hides realising up '.o 33d, butchers' cow ljd to 3gd, medium ox 3Jd to 4Jd, and a line of very prime heavy weights brought Sgd per lb, and calfskins 4Jd por lb. We. held our periodical salo of wool oddments, sheepskins, and hides to-day, when we offered our catalogue to a full attendanco of local buyers, with results which should prove gratifying to clients. Wool sold well up to values based on London prices ; sheepskins, no doubt owing to the substantial rise in tho value of pelts, show an advance of }d per lb ; while hides, with tho exception of heavy cow, remain at lost sales' rates, heavy cow showing an advanco of about Id perlb. Wo quote :— WooL- Greasy crossbred and pieces 4?d to Sib. crutchings id to 4ld, slipo crossbred CJd. Sheepskins. -Crossbred Sd to 53d, hoggets Sd to sfd, black i}d, merino 3jd to Id. At to-day's sale we offered 25 bales and 12 packages wool,-8170 sheepskins, together with . a few hides and packages fat. WooL— Growers continue to compete well for all suitable lots. Last sales' rates were fully maintained, and prices for crutchings showed a slight advance. Sheepskins. -At last sale we reported an advance, and to-day a further rise of Id por lb was established for all descriptions. CroßSbreds and half-breds sold up to 5Jd, crossbred hoggets up to sd, merino up to 4Jd. Hides continue to be in strong demand at improved rates. <ZM Our next sale will be hold on Bth August, HAWKE'S BAY FARMERS' COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION, LIMITED'S, REPORT. We held our usual sale of wool, sheepskins, &0,, in Messrs Hoadlcy and Co.'s silo room to-day, when a large number of buyers attended. Competition was keen and in sympathy with tho Home mnrkot. Thero was a sharp advance on lato ruling rates. Wool.— Crossbred first crutchings brought tip to lid, second 3id per lb. Skins.— On>3Bbred and half-bred uptoojd, hoggets U>sid, merino lid.
