(Received July 26, 12.35 a.m.) Brisbane, Thursday, Tbe Treasurer delivered bis Budget •peech ia the Assembly to-night. The revenue for the year was £3,413,000, being £63,000 more than the estimate Tbe expenditure was £3.308,000, or £39,000 under tbe estimate. A portion of the surplus will be applied to the redaction of tbe funded debt of £1,500,000. Tbe loan fond has been administered sparingly, £194.000 less th&n was estimated having been spend. It is proposed to continne railway construction in view of increasing facilities for producers and developing the interior,, Though the year has been prosperous, and there has been n general expansion of trade and commerce, careful financing will still be necessary. The estimated revenue /or the coming year ahowa an increase of €67,000, bub no change Is needed or intended in tbe methods of taxation, nor will the salaries of Civil servants be further reduced. Tbe Treasurer mentioned that the shearing strike of last year bad cost the colony £17,500, and In the laeC five years tbe expenditure on this account had reached £98,000.
