The application for au injunction la conneatlon with the Mount Lyell Company has been adjourned till Monday, te see whether an arrangement can be effected. In the meantime the directors have been restrained from alloting debsntnres.
In the Legislative Assembly the Premier, in announcing the intention of the Government to drop the Civil Servants Retirement BUI, said it meant a loss in the proposed savings of £15,000. If pensions were granted to retiring teachers, thousands of those » bo had been retired would claim pensions, and all those retired lv intnre had a rlgnt to demand them. At the end of tha year a qnarfcer of a million bonds would have to be redeemed, and the Government were therefore compelled to savo money, even at the risk of adopting mean expedients.
