Mr Petherlck, the well-known publisher, has offered his library, containing 6000 rare colonial bookß, to the Federal Conncll of Australasia as the nnoleus of a Federal library, on oondilion it appointed a librarian. The donor desires to see the books placed temporarily in the Imperial Institute.
