A nnmber of men who bad been engaged In Sydney to fill vacancies In the boot factories have joined the strikers, and the factories are almost ld'e. The strikers are still in a strong financial position. A deputation of labor members and representatives of the Workers Union asked the Government to abolinh the present system of contracting for pnbllo works, and allow tbe work to be done by gangs of men on the co-operativo principle. The Minister promised to make Inquiries Into tbo matter.
