CHRiSTCHracn, Friday, An Inquiry with reference to the management of the Cbristcburch hospital was commenced to-day, before Dr. Giles, Commissioner. Abont 50 people were present, and several conneel were engaged on behalf of individuals and associations. A lengthy argument took placa as to the scope of the inquiry, and whether the Commissioner was authorised to snbpcena witnesses. The Commissioner said he had that authority. It was urged by counsel that the petitions cent in were not charges, but mere matters for investigation.
