Poverty Bay v. Napier Combined. This match was continued thiß morning anil o'clock, Marshall not ont 0. Hughes tjjjb ont 1, taking strike to Rees and Down. Tbo Combined had lost 6 wickets for 131 when time was called on Thurß» day evening in their second Innings. With the total at 141 Hughes was bowled by At Rees. Gore joined Marshall, and commenced hitting ad once, losing Marshall with the total ab 167. Martin followed, bdt soon iosb Gore, who wos biwled by Bruoa who had relieved Down. Henderson, the lant man, made 4,. the innings closing tor 174, Martin leing not ont. Wibh 250 to win Poverty Bay commenced with W. L, Ree3 and Staite bo Mills and Gore. With the fourth ball ot his over Mills bowled the veteran, Bruce joined Stslto, and both commenced scoring in earnest. After patting on 59 Stßlte wos bowled by Hughes for a splendid innings of 40, including four sixes made without a chance. His hittinc; was the finest seen on the ground this season. A. W. Bees followed, and another fine stand was wit ne'ased, several changes of bowling being triad. Sainabury going on with slows had Bruce held by Gore at extra mid off. Rees' runs were made by sterling crloket 1 , and without a chancp. Charles joined .Kenway, the latter losing his wicket with the total unaltered. Dods, the last man, bib Hughes to. leg for 4, but was bowled nexb ball, tho lnninga closing for 178, Poverty Bay thus losing the match by 71 runs after a real good game.
