Golden "Plover and Lottie did' a serviceable gallop,-, both being in raro fettle. Black and Red shaped nicely in a mile ■pin with Brltomarte, and St. John did. good work in company with Clarence. Lady Zetland and Saracen were restricted to walking exarciae, having executed a good mile gallop yesterday morning, of which the> mare ' had tho best. Golden Plover gave Arius a bad beating over the Cup distance, yesterday. It was rnn In moderate time, and Arias is a doubtful siarter. Searchlight, Heavenly Twin, and Planet arrived last night, and Mahaki arrived from the North by the Tdlune to-day. St. Laura is scratched Sir, all engagements at the Wellington meeting. The secretary of the Racing Club last month received a telegram, dated DeBomber. 13tu, as follows:— "Except CJlonel Fraser'a Royal Robb Wellington Cup. G. Weight, Auckland." As " ex*nept"lor " accept" Is a common mutilation in telegrams, this message was taken to convey Royal Rose's acceptance. The. e'.ub are now endeavoring to find out who sent the telegram, as Mr Wright has denied giving any authority for Royal Rose's aoceotance.
