VICTORIA.

(Received January 18, 6.30 p.m.)

Melbourne, Frday. The Argus points oat that whoreas five or six years ago Victorian 4 per cent stock was quoted at 11} per cent higher in London than In Melbourne, now tho quotation Is 6£ per cent higher in Melbourne than in London. The obvious inference, therefore, is that the time has arrived at whloh an Amjlo-Auatrallau, rather than merely an English market, in Australian securities should .be established. Better still, It eays, would be the formation of an International market whereby Paris and Berlin, as well ns London, could co-operate with Melbourne and Sydney. The Argus adds that when the Australian Governments credit emerges from its present trials ltj will be held in higher esteem then ever, and render it possible to internationalise securities. In the meantime investor! in such securities can do much better by buying In London than in colonial centres, and thereby help to restore colonial credit to its old high position
