The following correspondence was read and dealt with :—

From the clerk of tbe Rangitlkei Connty Council, asking permission for bridge plans to be allowed to te exposed for inspection at the Napier Council's office.— Grand (1.

From W. Kinross White, applying for a slaughtering license. -Granted. From M. Ryan, Criterion Hotel, asking for a redncbion of rental owing to the existing state of trade. — Referred to the Public Works Committee.

From the Napier school committee, asking the Conncil to authorise the formatlon of a street crossing on Milton-road opposite the entrance to the main school. — Resolved that a reply be sent that ehe Council cannot sea any necessity for a crossing on Milton-road, as the road is in good order. From J. H. Kirby, informing the Council that seats would be reserved on the stage for members of the Borongh Council on the occasion or the Premier's address at the Gaiety Theatre on Friday, — Received with thanks. .

From E. Lyndon, stating that Thonip-eon-road was in a most deplorable condi tion from ono end to the other, some of the docks measured being six feet in height ; also asking that a footpath be formed from the reservoir to the corner of Mr Ruddock's property. — Referred to the Pablio Works Committee.

From Dean Hovoll, asking the Council to remove the materiil lying In Browniog-street opposite tits north door of the Cathedral, and stating that tome mischievous person had taken advantage of the fact of loose metal, &c, lying about to throw a atone through one of the windows into the interior of the bnlldiog ; also sQggeatiog that bb the sacred edifice Wl6 visited by people from all partis of the world the untidy aspect of the roadway was unfortunate. — Left in the hands of the Mayor and the overseer.

From W. Miller, ' inspeotor, forwarding the accounts and reports of the Napier and Spit fire brigades for the quarter ending 31st December ; also certifying to the efficiency of the brigades and to the fact that the plants were in goad ordsr. — Referred to the Fabilo Works Committee.
