INSTALLATION OF GRAND MASTER OF FREEMASONS.

Auckland, Wednesday. Tbo newly • elected Most Worshipful Master of the Grand Lodge of New ZeaIflnd, Brother M. Niccol, was installed tonißht at the Chora! Hall. There was a large attendance of brethren of the Orr'er from various parts of the colony. Tl c installing master, Bro. Gillon, delivered an address, in the conrse of which he , stated that the eminently satisfactory position of the Grand Lodge was laigcly doe to the services ot the Brut Grand Maoler, Uro. H. Thomson. He (Bro. Gillon) maintained that the expectations of those wbo had called the Grand Loci go into existence had been justified. New life had been infused inlo Freemasonry in New Zealand, and tbo benefits of eelf • government bad been thoroughly appreciated by every Lodge 3 which had joined the new constitution. > Local and provincial jealousy had vanished, nor had there been any sellisl.ness or strngglo for office. Moreover, the financial position of the Grand Lodge was exceedingly satisfactory. Oaly one of tho hopes of the promoters had been disappointed— tbeir Grand Lodge had not yet received the recognition of the Mother Grand Lodge. He was convinced that tbe Grand Lodges of England and Scotland d had been misinformed and ill-advised i- regarding the movement. if The newly - installed Grand Master, a Bro, Niccol, retained thanks for the d honor he had received, and said he had h been gratified at the unanimity and i- heartiness with which his nomination had been received in all parts of New Zealand. s 1 He went on to say that tba misunder. i- standings which had arisen concerning the i- Grand Lodgo movement were passing y away.
