THE AUSTRALASIAN HOME READING UNION.

Sin,— ln consequence of a letter which ' appeared over my signature iv your columns a week or two ago I have received a good many inquiries ns to the working of the reading circles in connection with the abovo union. It seems clear that the best way of carrying on the work of the uniou is by the formation of private circles. During the winter months tame hangs heavy on the hands of many people, and the usual form of social gatherings only too frequently turn oub to be nobbing but a delusion and a snare, Now if people would get a few of their friends about tbem and meet say once a fortnight they would find in some one of the courses of reading plenty to talk abou*! and derive much profit as well as amusement from their meetings. When once a circle is formed in this way nothing remains to be done but to communicate with some representative of the union who will receive tbe fees and in return forward the journal from month to month. When two or three circles are iv working order they may appoint their representatives to form a towu group and arrange if possible tor the delivery of lectures bearing on the various subjects of study. As mentioned before, either Mr H. H, Pluckney or I will be clad to give any further information which may be desired.— l am, &c. W. DINWIDDIE.
