Chkistoitokoh, Monday. A fire broke ont this morning in a seven-roomed dwelling and shop occupied by Mr Bryenson, batcher, at Linwood. Ths building was totally destroyed. By a revaluation of the section's in Otago for the year under the Selectors' Revaluation Act, the capital value of 431 holdings of Crown lands has been reduced from £165,134 to £96,035. All the berths are taken for the Tarawera's first Sounds excursions. The annual report of the Benevolent Trustees shows that during the year there were 3397. persons relieved, being an increase of 250 on the previous year. Casual cases were largely in excess, while permanent cases show a decrease of 70. The weekly average at the institution was 210, the oharge being at the rate of 5s Id per head per week. The amount disbursed in outdoor relief was £6417, a decrease of £325 on the previous year. The total amount expended on the institution and on outdoor relief shows a reduction of over £500.
