THE RICKARD SEASON.

Theatrical managers in search of novelties have now to go further afield than London or America, and it was with this object that Mr Harry Rickards, who inaugurates his new English and Irish comedy season to-morrow evening, despatched an agent to the Continent in the early part of last year to seek fresh attractions. He was successful in engaging Miss Delroy, a lady who had, atter making a name for herself on the English stage, retired to Switzerland, where she acquired that extraordinary vocal production known as " Jodelling." The cnarra of Tyrolese music lies in its purity of musical expression, in its warmth of feeling, and its fulness of sentiment. The song, which to these honest mountaineers serves as a medium for the expression of emotion, generally opens with a simple melody, which, growing in musical color as it proceeds, towards the end is enriched iv parts with some unexpected snd refreshingly .fine modulation. The " Jodel" is what might be regarded as the rustic chorus ot the song, and expresses an ecstasy of delight. It is caused by a peculiar and sudden break in the voice, wuich only long practice can acquire, and when forcibly rendered it ''■ may be hoard from mountain to mountain, as one Tyrolean echoes it to another at the sound of the Vesper bell. This will, with the attractions of all the novelties of this successful company, be reproduced here! Entirely now scenery oy snch artists as Messrs George Gordon, Little, and Grist, will add to tbe completeness of the* comedies, aud altogether the reason promises to be an eminently successful, one. The uo_ plan in rapidly filling, and intending patrons will do well to secure seats. The prices are wonderfully low, the highest price charged being 2s, and the lowest 6d. mmmm^mmmmmm^mmmmmm ,\,m
