The a.s. Kotomahana, Captaii M. Carey, arrivrd in the bay nt 11 a.m. yesterday from Melbourne via Southern ports, and was tendered immediately on hci-arrival for mails and Dassengers by the Waihi. She left Melbourne at 1 p.m. on the 3rd instant, reached the Bluil at 11 a.m. on the 7th, nnd arrived at Dunedin at 6.30 a.tn. on the Bth ; sailed again at 5 p.m. on the 10th, called at Lyttelton on the 11th, and reached Wellington at 7.10 a.m. on the 12th. Left in the afternoon at 5 p.m.. but owing to the heavy sea running at the Heads was compelled to anchor in Worser's Bay all night, and at II ».m, on Saturday was again berthed at the Qußcn's wharf; started again at 3 p.m,, and experienced fresh southerly and south-west winds accompanied with heavy sea. The s.s. Australia, Captain Crawshaw, arrived in port yesterday afternoon from Northern ports, und was berthed alongside the wharf. She experienced the full force of the gale since leaving Gisborne on Friday evening. She will be despatched for Wellington this afternoon. The Wairoa steamers are still detained owing to tho hoavy aea on the Wuiroa bar. The brigantine Daroy Pratt expects to get away for Kaiapoi to-day. The Kahu ana Kiwi arc detained in WelThe s.s. Rotomahana was unable to discharge anything yesterday, and had to carry on all her gargo for this port.
