♦ HAWKE'S BAY JOCKEY CLUB'S STEEPLECHASE MEETING. BETTING MARKET. A large number of persons assembled in the commercial-room of the Criterion Hotel last evening, when the metallioiana " called over the odds." The business done was not lar^e, although several wageru were booked. The horses most in favor for the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase were Macaroni, Druid, and New Year. For the double— Maiden and Handicap — Dhudeen and The Druid was taken once or twice at 100's to 5, and Rimu and Nukurau with Macaroni was nibbled at 100 to 4. The betting to-day and this evening will, no doubt, be of a more animated character. The horses will undergo their final gallop thiß morning, and owners and others will then be in a better frame as to the one on which their ''fancy dwells."
