VICTORIA.
(Received May 30, 1.30 p.m.) Melbourne, Saturday. A large and enthusiastic meeting wag held in the Town Hall last night to institute a movement for the erection of a statue to the late General Gordon. A resolution was unanimously adopted approving the project, and a large number of subscriptions were promised among those present, who numbered fully four thousand. The prisoners Alexander ,Eo9B and Milne Smith, who were recently arrested on the charge of being concerned in an extensive robbery from the London Chartered Bank at Harsham in March, ISB4, were examined yesterday, and were remanded for the production of further evidence.
