[bbuter's telegrams.] (Received Apiil 20, 11 a.m.) London, April 18. The wool sales closed to-day, the total quantity sold beine; 180,000 bales ; 4200 bales have been held over for the next auction. Prices generally closed halfpenny to a penny lower, except for crosabreda, which have advanced by a halfpenny to a penny compared with the closing rates of the January-February auctions. The third series of sales open on June 4th. (Eeceivea April 21, 1.30 a.m.) April 20. A telegraphic despatch has been reoeived at the War Office from Sir Gerald Graham, in which he states that the colonial troops marched on Saturday last a distance of 14 miles in nine hours through a pass consisting of most difficult country, and that Colonel Kichardson, commandant, of the Australian contingent, conducted the force in excellent style.
