It has transpired that Mr John Pender, M.P., well known in London aa Chairman of the Eastern Telegraph Company and its branches, has recently made enquiries in this city by telegraph regarding the prospects of establishing a bank on the ground hitherto occupied by the Oriental Bank Corporation. (Received May 8, 0.55 a.m.) yf The trial of R. B. Fletcher, late mine ' manager at Sandhurst, on further charges of embezzlement, was continued to-day, and again resulted in an acquittal of the prisoner.
