The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion has advanced to £12,900,000, an increase of £700.000 during the week. The proportion of the reserve to the liabilities has risen to 41 per cent. The Bank rate of discount remains at 3J per cent., and the market rate at 3-jj- per cent. Consols are unchanged at 101. New Zealand securities aro at the following quotations :— 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 105 ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 103J ; 4$ per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 100 ox div. ; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 99. The grain and tallow markets are without quotable change. For Australian hides the demand is limited, and prices have declined id. Sydney, Friday. New Zealand wheat has advanced 2d during the week, and is now quoted at 3s 6d ; New Zealand oats have risen to 3b ; maize remuins at 4s ; Sugar Company's No. 1, pieces, £34. Adklaide, Friday. The wheat market is very dull, and little business is doing.
