DR KINNS AND EVOLUTION.

Sir, — Every person I have heard refer to the letter of "Reformer" in your Monday's issue, has understood the passage marked by quotation sij^ns to be given as an extract from Dr Xinn's work, and some who have access to the book have searched diligently, and I need not aay unsuccessfully, for a sentiment so strongly at variance with the whole contention of the writer. It will be seen on a close examination of "Reformer's" letter that it is open to another construction, and that the passage indicated by the quotation marks is attributed to "The Modern Theologian of the Dr Kinns School," — that is to say, a typical personage, a creature of tho writer's imagination, and that the words professedly quoted are in fact no qoutation at all. "Reformer" has certainly well justified the statement of his antagonist regarding the disingenousness so often characterising the champions of so-called science as opposed to Christianity. — I am, &c, J.C. Napier, 12th February, 1884.
