The " Vagabond " writes to the Argus from the Islands that the Dart recently landed a party at Ambryor (sic) to attack a village in the locality of the scene of the murder of Captain Belbin. The *' Vagabond " also asserts that a lieutenant of the French warship Destrees recently bought the island Inriki. The transaction was nominally a private one, but really on behalf of the French Government. Mr Service has telegraphed to the Government of New Zealand, asking when they- will be able to reply to the invitation to attend the joint Annexation Conference. Meanwhile the convention is at a standstill, andthe Argus urges that it is important that no time be lost in view of the Frepch Activity in the Pacific. Lateb. The Tasmanian Government has agreed to send delegates to the Annexation Conference. New Zealand is now the only colony from which no reply has been receivedT - The Catholics of this colony express 7* universal regret at the death of Archbishop X Vat-fl-han, and mourning is now worn, by, many members of the Romish Church..
