VICTORIA.

The Age says that the Government do not intend to appoint a Judge in the place of the late Sir Kedmond Barry. A petition with 600 signatures, praying for Mr Gaunson's removal from the position of Chairman of Committees, was presented to the Assembly from Sandhurst on November 25th. Mr Berry declined to give any facilities for bringing on Mr Orkney's motion for a vote of censure upon Mr Gaunson, and it is therefore expected that the motion will lapse. The Australian cricketers are to arrive in Melbourne on December 2nd. They will be received at the Town Hall by Mr J. W. Clark the President of the Cricket Association, and on the same evening they will be entertained at a banquet by the Mayor.

The following were the results of tho intercolonial rifle match : — Victoria, 2782 points ; New South "Wales, 2650 ; South Australia, 2640 ; Tasmania, 2603. Lieutenant Roberts took the first prize, and Sergeant Manchester took the Sargood cup.

All claimants to participation in the Kelly reward are required to forward particulars of their claims before the end of the year. It is expected that the number will be very large.
