The. Australian cricketers received at
the Town Hall to-day a most hearty welcome back after their English tour. Mr Street, of Dunedin, on behalf of the ' Otago cricketers, presented Mr Murdoch, ■the captain of the team, with a handsome ■gold bat. The Mayor entertains them ' to-night.
The intercolonial conference has adopted a resolution" in favor of a Federal Council. The question of legislation in respect to Chinese immigration has been adjourned until the meeting of the conference at Sydney on January the 15th, when representation from all the colonies will be iavited.
