Brisbane, Thursday. In tho Legislative Assembly last night the Colonial Treasurer moved the second reading of a bill to authorise the con-, striiction of railways under, the land' grant system. The measure provides? , for a grant of 8000 acres per mile of line constructed in alternate blocks, the line to remain the property of the . constructors. It is stated that if ,the bill passes. a lino of railway will be constructed tojthe* Gulf of Carpentaria from Roma, which/ place is already connected by. rail with. Brisbane. " ' '
